How buying a gun in Junction City works
Pick an FFL dealer near you that accepts shipped transfers and name it at checkout. We confirm their license and ship the firearm to them. Ammunition, optics and parts ship straight to your door where Kansas law allows.
Kansas does not require a state permit to purchase a rifle or handgun and has no state waiting period on dealer sales. Federal law sets the dealer minimum age at 18 for rifles and 21 for handguns, and every dealer sale includes Form 4473 and a background check. Rifles ship to the federally licensed (FFL) dealer you choose, where you complete ATF Form 4473 and the background check. Under federal rules, a holder of an ATF 03 Curio & Relic license may receive C&R-eligible rifles directly at the licensed premises; confirm current state and local rules before ordering. Bring a valid photo ID with your current address.

Kansas residents 21 and older who may lawfully possess firearms can carry concealed with or without a license. Those 18 to 20 must hold a valid Concealed Carry Handgun License, issued as a provisional license until renewal. Licenses are issued by the Kansas Attorney General's office, which sets the minimum age at 18. Since July 1, 2021, Kansas recognizes out-of-state licenses held by non-residents.

Milford Lake, the largest lake in Kansas, brings waterfowl and deer hunters to the public wildlife areas just northwest of town. Cavalry history and the Flint Hills prairie give the area a strong frontier and military identity.
