How buying a gun in Radcliff works
Pick an FFL dealer near you that accepts shipped transfers and name it at checkout. We confirm their license and ship the firearm to them. Ammunition, optics and parts ship straight to your door where Kentucky law allows.
Kentucky has no state permit to purchase and no state waiting period for buying a rifle or handgun from a licensed dealer. The dealer runs the federal background check on Form 4473, and federal age rules apply: 18 for rifles and shotguns, 21 for handguns from a dealer. Rifles from our store ship to the FFL dealer of your choice for transfer. A holder of an ATF 03 Curio and Relic license can generally receive C&R-eligible rifles directly under federal law; Kentucky does not appear to add its own restriction, but confirm with your dealer before ordering.

Carrying a gun in Hardin County
Since June 28, 2019, KRS 237.109 lets any person 21 or older who may lawfully possess a firearm carry concealed in Kentucky without a license, in the same places a licensee may carry. A Concealed Carry Deadly Weapon (CCDW) license is still useful for travel. You apply through the sheriff in your county of residence or online through the Kentucky State Police portal, with a certificate from a firearms training course approved by the Department of Criminal Justice Training. Kentucky State Police run the background check and issue or deny the license, which is valid for five years. Confirm current fees with the Hardin County Sheriff or KSP.
Hunting near Radcliff
KDFWR sets the modern gun deer season to open on the second Saturday in November and run 16 days; for 2026 that pattern points to Nov. 14 to 29, but confirm in the current KDFWR hunting guide. Under 301 KAR 2:172, deer firearms must fire one round per trigger pull with centerfire, single-projectile ammunition designed to expand on impact, and magazines holding more than ten rounds may not be used for deer. A .30-06, 8mm Mauser, 7.62x54R or .303 British rifle is legal with expanding hunting ammunition. Full metal jacket surplus ammunition does not meet that rule. Hunter orange is required during gun seasons.
Hardin County deer rules follow the KDFWR zone map, so check the current zone before you hunt. Nearby public ground includes Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area in Meade County, which lists hunting among its uses.
Rolling farmland and hardwood ridges between the Ohio River and the Knobs make Hardin County solid whitetail country. KDFWR runs self-serve public ranges on several wildlife management areas across the state; check the KDFWR shooting range map for the nearest one.
