Rated good by the seller and priced to move, this Zastava Yugo SKS makes sense for a first surplus rifle. It fires 7.62x39mm from a 10-round magazine, wears a 24-inch barrel with a wood stock, and comes with its bayonet. The seller gives it as gun only.
The condition notes are specific. The seller rates both the bore and the overall condition at 7 out of 10, says the rifle is in 100 percent working order, and warns that scratches and dings are present. Many photos are available, so study them before you buy. That kind of honesty makes it easier to judge what you will get.
The SKS is a gas-operated carbine that soldiers carried in large numbers, and Yugoslavia made its own sturdy versions. The cartridge is mild and common, and surplus ammunition is easy to find. For plinking, hog hunting at modest range, or a collection of Cold War rifles, the SKS gives a lot for the price.
When it arrives, strip the rifle and clean the gas system. Check the bore with a bright light and look over the bayonet mount. It is sold as described, in used condition. The rifle ships to your FFL dealer for the background check.
