SPRINGFIELD ARMORY M1 Garand WW2 1942

Few rifles earn the title of a national icon, but the M1 Garand does. General Patton called it the greatest battle implement ever devised, and it carried American soldiers through the Second World War and Korea. This example is a 1942 Springfield Armory M1 Garand in .30-06, with a serial number of 1011023.

The seller describes it as an authentic WWII piece with original SA cartouches in the stock. The wood shows honest dings and handling marks earned in the field. It comes with an olive drab canvas sling, an ammo belt, a clip, and a bayonet. That adds up to a complete display or a good set of kit for the range.

The Garand is a semi-automatic with an 8-round en bloc clip. When the last round is fired, the empty clip pings out, which is a sound every Garand fan knows. Use proper ammunition, since modern hot loads can bend the operating rod. Ask for loads made for the M1 or use standard military-style ball.

Check the bore, the gas system, and the stock for cracks when you receive it. A rifle of this age should be inspected closely, and the markings checked against the photos. It is sold as described, in used condition. The rifle ships to your local FFL dealer, where the background check is completed.
