WAFFENFABRIK BERN SCHMIDT-RUBIN 1889

Switzerland adopted this straight-pull rifle in 1889, and it is a landmark of late nineteenth century military design. The seller describes the Schmidt-Rubin Model 1889 by Waffenfabrik Bern as a cornerstone of the Swiss defense forces. It is used, in 7.5x55mm Schmidt-Rubin, with a 30 inch barrel, a five round magazine and a blued finish.

The Schmidt-Rubin does not use a rotating bolt handle the way a Mauser does. The handle is pulled straight back and pushed forward, a quicker motion that the Swiss developed to speed up fire. Buying from a dealer near you makes the handover easy, since you can handle the rifle and ask questions before you sign.

Swiss rifles are known for fine workmanship, and the Model 1889 is one of the best examples of precision engineering from that period. It is a good piece for a collector of Swiss arms or of early smokeless rifles.

Ammunition for the 7.5x55 is available from specialty makers. Check the supply before you plan range days.

It is sold as described, and it ships to a licensed dealer you choose. The background check is completed there.
