Walnut and blued steel give this M1A an older look. It is the Standard model from Springfield Armory, a semi-automatic chambered in .308 Winchester with a 22 inch barrel and a 10 round magazine.

Rifles like this are the civilian form of the M14, which served as the American service rifle after the M1 Garand. A full-length barrel gives good sight radius, and the traditional wood stock feels right at the shoulder. It is current production of a military pattern, and the maker offers it in several finishes.

Deer hunters in open country like the weight on a steady shot. Match shooters like the sights. Add a good sling, bed it correctly if you plan to compete, and you have a rifle that will serve for decades. Pick up a good sling and a cleaning kit while you wait for it to arrive at your dealer.

It ships to your FFL dealer, never to your door. The dealer completes the background check and the transfer with you. If a detail matters to your decision, send a question first and compare the answer with the photos.
