MA9222 is the catalog number for this Springfield Armory M1A Loaded, and it means a walnut-stocked semi-automatic .308 with a 22 inch barrel and a 10+1 capacity. It is new, with a black finish on the metal.

The Loaded series is built with accuracy in mind. In general the maker puts a match-grade barrel and a tuned trigger into the rifle, and the walnut stock gives it a classic look. Ammunition choice matters more than most buyers expect, so try two or three loads and keep the one that groups best.

A rifle like this makes sense for someone who wants the look of the M14 with its wood, plus the finer shooting qualities of a rifle set up for accuracy. It is a heavy rifle, as the long barrel and wood stock add to the weight, and that weight helps tame the recoil of the .308.

At the range, the M1A shoots well in service rifle events, and in the field it is a fine rifle for deer and hogs. Keep the wood clean and dry.

The rifle ships to a licensed dealer you choose, and the background check is completed there.
