Inspired by the shortened Tanker Garand rifles of World War II, the M1A Tanker combines handiness with the full-size cartridge. It is a Springfield Armory semi-automatic chambered in .308 Winchester and 7.62mm NATO, with a 16.25 inch barrel and a 10 round magazine.

The listed finish is American walnut with a black carbon steel receiver, and the rifle weighs 8.75 pounds. The maker lists a vintage walnut stock, a front post sight with a tritium insert, and a ghost ring rear sight. That sight setup works well in low light and at moderate range.

A short barrel makes the rifle louder and gives more muzzle blast than a full-length M1A, so practice with ear protection. Buyers who like compact rifles will enjoy the balance. It is current production of a classic military pattern.
