Springfield offers the M1A Standard in a version sold to meet California requirements, and that is what this rifle is. It is a new, current-production rifle in the M14 pattern with a synthetic black stock. Springfield's M1A is normally offered in .308 Winchester, so expect that familiar power.

The standard M1A has a steel receiver, an aperture rear sight, and a two-stage trigger. The synthetic stock shrugs off moisture and knocks, which makes it a good choice for field use. California configurations often change features such as the muzzle device and magazine capacity, so expect those details to differ from a standard model.

Because rules vary by state, confirm that the rifle is legal where you live and where your dealer is located. The rifle ships to a licensed dealer, who will handle the transfer in line with local law.

For hunters, the M1A has the weight and power for deer and hogs. For range shooters, it offers a classic profile and good accuracy with quality ammunition. Plan on a scope mount and a few sessions to learn how the rifle shoots. The rifle ships to your local FFL dealer, where the background check is completed.
