Walnut and black metal make this Scout Squad look like a traditional rifle with a short, quick barrel. Springfield Armory chambers it in .308 Winchester, fits an 18 inch barrel, and supplies a 10 round magazine.

The M1A pattern follows the M14 service rifle, and this model trims length for handling in brush and vehicles. Deer hunters in thick country find the short barrel an advantage, and the .308 cartridge offers plenty of power for hogs and bear as well.

As a current-production rifle in a military pattern, it has a stock that fits well and a trigger that improves with use. A good set of rings and a scope make it more versatile, though the scout rail position takes some getting used to.

Choose your FFL dealer at checkout. The firearm is sent to them, and the background check happens at their shop. Ask us about fit, wear or what comes with it before you order. If a detail matters to your decision, send a question first and compare the answer with the photos. Bring a cleaning rod and a bright light to the dealer counter and look down the bore yourself.
