SCHMIDT-RUBIN 1889

Before the K31, there was the 1889. The first Schmidt-Rubin was a Swiss straight-pull, and this sporter version is a bolt action with a 30.7 inch blued barrel and a twelve round capacity listed. The seller calls the rifle in great shape.

A key warning appears in the seller's text. The caliber listed as 7.5x55 is not correct, and that round cannot be shot through this rifle. The right cartridge is 7.5x53.5mm. Do not buy it if you plan to shoot standard 7.5x55 Swiss ammunition. Handloaders and collectors know this rifle well, but it is not a casual shooter's rifle.

Sporter means it has been altered from its military form. Examine the stock, the sights and the bore, and compare them with the photos. A rifle like this is a conversation piece for someone who enjoys Swiss design history. Wipe it down after every outing and it will reward you with years of service.

One used rifle, sold as described. When you order, pick the FFL dealer who will receive it. The background check happens at their counter, not before.
