LEE-ENFIELD SMLE MARK III

A Lee-Enfield that fires shotgun shells is not something you see every day. This SMLE Mark III is described as an Ishapore Indian police and military riot gun. It is used, chambered in .410 bore, with a 25 inch barrel, a blued finish and a three round capacity.

Ishapore was the rifle factory in British India, and it produced many Lee-Enfield variants over the years. A .410 conversion was designed for police use, giving officers a less powerful shoulder arm than a .303 rifle. Today, the conversion is a curiosity with a good story. Many owners shoot such a rifle a few times a year and enjoy it more for being used than for sitting in a case.

Check the bore, the chamber and the markings, and ask your dealer to confirm the specifications. Because the .410 bore is a shotshell cartridge, buy the ammunition that matches the chamber length.

Collectors of Commonwealth arms will find the rifle interesting for its uncommon history. Shooters might take it on a small-game outing or a range day with a smile.

It is sold as described. It ships to a licensed dealer you choose, and the background check is completed there.
