ARISAKA Type II Paratrooper

Among Japanese rifles, the Type 2 paratrooper carbine stands near the top of any collector's list. It was a takedown rifle developed for airborne troops, and fewer were made than the standard rifles. This is an original WW2 example with the imperial chrysanthemum, called the mum, still on the receiver.

The seller gives it as a bolt-action rifle in 7.7x58mm Arisaka with a 25.25-inch barrel and a five-round magazine. The finish is wood and steel. The mum is a significant detail, because many Japanese rifles had it ground off at surrender. A rifle that kept it is more desirable and easier to authenticate.

At this price, you are buying a collector piece first and a range rifle second. Look closely at the photos for the takedown mechanism, the serial number, and the stock fit. Ask about the bore and the headspace before you decide to shoot it. Ammunition in 7.7mm is made today, but it is not as common as other cartridges.

A rifle like this belongs in a safe or on a display rack. Handle it carefully, keep the metal lightly oiled, and avoid direct sun on the wood. It is sold as described, in used condition. The rifle ships to your local FFL dealer, where the background check is completed.
