ARISAKA Type 38

Adopted in 1906 and designed by Major Kijiro Nambu, according to the seller, the Type 38 Arisaka became the standard Japanese infantry rifle for decades. This used example has the full 31 inch barrel, a five round internal magazine and a black and wood finish. It is chambered in 6.5x50mm Arisaka.

The Type 38 is known for a strong Mauser-style action, a sliding dust cover over the bolt and extreme reliability. Recoil from the 6.5mm round is low, which makes the rifle comfortable to shoot, even with the long barrel and its weight forward.

At this price the rifle is one of the cheaper ways to own a piece of Japanese military history. Expect some wear and check the condition of the markings. The chrysanthemum on the receiver was ground off on many rifles at the end of the war, so look at what remains.

For collectors, a clean Type 38 rounds out a display of World War II rifles. For shooters, it is a mild plinker with the right ammunition.

It is sold as described. It ships to a licensed dealer you choose, and the background check takes place there.
