Early Arisakas have a charm that the later Type 99 lacks, and the Type 30 is the older of the two. This used carbine carries the Imperial chrysanthemum, the Koishikawa Arsenal stamp, and a hooked safety. The barrel is 19 inches, and the rifle is chambered in 6.5x50mm Arisaka with a five-round magazine.
The seller describes it as military surplus with wear consistent with wartime use. The bore is in excellent condition, the action works as the factory intended, and the stock is full length but duffel cut in the buttstock. A duffel cut shortens the stock so a soldier could pack it for the trip home.
The hooked safety is the detail that identifies the pattern. Collectors compare the safety style, the arsenal marks, and the markings to date a rifle. This one has the mum intact, which many rifles lost. A duffel cut lowers the price, but it also records the rifle's history.
Before shooting, check the headspace and the bore. Use mild loads for the 6.5mm Arisaka and clean the bore afterward. Store it with a light coat of oil. It is sold as described, in used condition. The rifle ships to your local FFL dealer, where the background check is completed.
